Clinton Adrian Boots (in custody) was arraigned on charges of battery with a deadly weapon, a category B felony carrying a penalty of 2-10 years. According to the allegations, on September 17th, at Coleman Rd. and the Reno Highway, Boots did stab another individual. Boots entered a guilty plea and is scheduled for sentencing on February 2nd, 2021.
Arthell James Duplessis appeared for sentencing charges of a DUI, 3rd or subsequent offense. He had been provisionally placed in drug court in August. However, Lane Mills, Chief Deputy District Attorney, reported that Duplessis was not compliant with the supervisory requirements. Judge Stockard placed Duplessis in the DUI Diversion Program, urging that he make the program a priority. By statute, the charge carries a mandatory 1-5 years in prison should he fail the program. Duplessis was also ordered to wear an ankle monitor that registers his blood alcohol level. He is also under supervision on a separate DUI in another county.
Damyn Robert French (in custody) entered a guilty plea on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, a category C felony which carries 1-5 years. According to Jacob Sommer, public defender for French, the allegations state that on September 10th French was knowingly in possession of a stolen 2010 Honda Civic. Sentencing is set for February 2nd, 2021.
Victor Karl Pugh appeared in court to enter a change of plea. Pugh had previously pled not guilty on charges of abuse, neglect, or endangerment of a child, not causing substantial bodily harm. The category B felony carries a potential penalty of 1-6 years in prison. The matter was set for a jury trial in December. According to Sommer, also defending Pugh, the allegations, which are in dispute, state that on July 4th. 2019, Pugh pointed a weapon at a minor person who was born in 2004. Pugh entered a guilty plea. He will appear for sentencing on February 20th, 2021.
Ryan Edward Street (in custody) pled guilty to two gross misdemeanors. Both include battery on an officer. The first charge alleged that Street hit police officer Austin Wood while resisting arrest and the second charge alleged that he spit on Wood after he was taken into custody. Both charges carry up to 364 days in jail. According to Jacob Sommer, defending Street, on September 23rd, Wood came into contact with the defendant while in the course of his duties wherein Street struck him in the face with his arm or his fist. ADA, Joseph Sanford cited Street’s extensive history which includes seven incidents of resisting arrest and battery on an officer. Judge Stockard sentenced Street to 364 days in jail on each charge, with the terms to run concurrently.
Christopher James Sullivan (in custody) entered a guilty plea on a charge of attempting to commit possession of a stolen motor vehicle on August 6th. The charge can be classified as a category D felony, which carries 1-4 years in prison, or a gross misdemeanor, which carries up to 364 days in jail. Sullivan will appear for sentencing on December 8th, 2020.
