A brief from the school board meeting

A brief from the school board meeting

Last night’s Churchill County School Board meeting took place with all trustees present. Carmen Schank participated virtually.

Superintendent Summer Stephens reported to the Board that the District’s schools were adjusting well with the current plan and that students were following guidelines and things were running smoothly as the first term comes to an end this Friday.

At this time there were no changes being made and as new directives arrive from the state, changes may come in certain areas, but what that means exactly is yet to be seen.

She also informed the Board that a more rapid results testing for Covid-19 would soon be available for staff and Board members.

Principals presented brief reports to the Board (written reports are in the Board Book online). Common threads shared by all principals were how well students, staff, and parents were working together and the positive feelings students were expressing about being back with teachers and their peers.

Christi Fielding, district comptroller, reported that the audit was close to being complete and it had gone well. JNA Consulting will prepare a report on the refunding of two bonds and present that report to the Board at a later date.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
