Truckee Canal EIS Available - in "Wait Period"
Water from the Truckee and Carson Rivers serve water right holders in the Lahontan Valley

The Bureau of Reclamation Lahontan Basin Area Office has announced the Notice of Availability for the final Truckee Canal Extraordinary Operation and Maintenance Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), saying the notices was published in the Federal Register on September 25th.

Publication of the final EIS begins the minimum 30-day “wait period,” in which agencies are generally required to wait 30 days before making a final decision on a proposed action. To access the final EIS and for additional information on the project, visit the project website here online: https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=25717.

Water from the Truckee and Carson Rivers are impounded in the Lahontan Reservior to serve water right holders in the Lahontan Valley. There are 672 farms in Churchill County, producing nearly $225 million in agriculture outputs.

For more information on the final EIS, contact Laurie Nicholas at 775-884-8360 or [email protected].

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
