Viviane's Review of the Emmys

Viviane's Review of the Emmys

Recently, The Emmys held a giant Zoom hangout visible to the whole world on ABC.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the night, had live feeds to over 100 locations around the world of nominees who would receive a knock their door if they were the lucky winner.

Unfortunately, POPTV’s Schitt’s Creek, and HBO’s Watchmen and Succession took all the golden ladies.

Fortunately, every network that won an Emmy donated $100,000 to the charity No Kid Hungry. For those doing the math at home, POPTV donated $700,000, HBO donated $1,100,000, and Hulu and Netflix donated $200,000 combined.

Although I do love a good, heartfelt acceptance speech, it was even better to see a television academy intern walking away from a nominee’s door with an Emmy after they lost.

In keeping with tradition, the Emmys kept the in-memoriam reel, with R&B artist H.E.R performing a cover of Nothing Compares 2 U.

Kimmel and others mentioned the feeling of unnecessity of an award show during a global pandemic, but didn’t seem to take their own hint.

A congratulations to the winners and the losers really shouldn’t worry about it.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
