More Details on School Opening

The Churchill County School Board met on August 12 at 5:30 PM.
More Details on School Opening

During the meeting Superintendent Summer Stephens presented information to the Board on details for the reopening of schools with an AM/PM model. School is set to open on August, 25th. Placement of students in their session for the upcoming year went out to parents yesterday afternoon by email and was posted on soical media. According to Stephens there will be a stringent appeal process that may be used if parents have a need to change schedules.

She said the busing schedule will look very different this fall. Transportation will be provided for students who live outside of the city limits with the exception of stops at Churchill Village, Mary Street and Albert Street, Auction Road, and Serpa and Broadway. There will be NO transfer busing at this time. Students will be required to wear masks at all times on the bus. Only family members may sit together while all other students will have a seat to themselves.

This is the time when the community, neighbors, family, and friends can come together and help with getting students to and from school.

Dr. Stephens and Christi Fielding presented the Board with information on a meals program through the USDA that would allow for free breakfasts and lunches for all students of Churchill County. The Board voted unanimously to approve the program. (Trustee Fred Buckmaster was not present.) Meals will be sent home with students.

Details on the reopening can be found on the district website: ChurchillCSD Reopening

  • For safety reasons, no early arrivals to or late pick-ups from school will be permitted.
  • There will be no recess prior to any session.
  • Students will not eat breakfast or lunch on site.
  • District-provided meals will still be available.
  • Transportation has been coordinated with assigned AM/PM Learning Groups for those students that qualify for District transportation.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
