Dowd Retiring - Fielding to Take the Reins

Churchill County School District welcomes Christi Fielding to the position of comptroller
Dowd Retiring - Fielding to Take the Reins
Christi Fielding, the new comptroller for the Churchill County School District comes to us from Ely, Nevada

The Churchill County School district has hired a comptroller, Christi Fielding. who will be replacing Phyllys Dowd this month when she retires. Phyllys has been the Director of Financial Services for the school district. The district has rolled out several organizational and administrative changes, one of which places the comptroller position under the administrative director.

The comptroller is responsible for all the budgeting, all of the audits, and debt management policy. This department handles all the accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, and the general ledger. Communication with the State Department of Education and Taxation is continuously taking place with this office, and meetings with  different school districts often occur. Fielding steps into this position at a difficult time with the Covid-19 issues, but she steps in with almost eight years of experience working for the school district in Ely. This experience gives her plenty of background that will help her navigate the many roads ahead for the Churchill district.

Originally a resident of Colorado, Fielding comes from a family of five siblings. She attended college in Greeley, Colorado where she earned her accounting degree in 1989. After working for an accounting firm in Colorado, Fielding moved to Ely, Nevada in 1991. She joined her brother who was working there and experienced a bit of culture shock. “They didn’t even have fast food when I moved there,” she said. Her brother would later return to Colorado, and she remained in Ely.

Fielding will soon be joined here in Fallon by her daughter, Peyton, and  granddaughter, Mia. “ I’m excited to be in Fallon. It’s bigger and offers more options. It’s closer to shopping and doctors, an airport. I’m very excited. I’m excited for a new start. I’m working with amazing people here. I have a great team. So, it’s going to be good. It will be good.”

Welcome to our community Christi and family.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
