Grades 1-12 begin Monday, Aug. 24. Pre-K and kindergarten begin Monday, Aug. 31.

FIRST-DAY CHECKLIST

• Check Infinite Campus for teacher assignment or class schedule.

• Gather school supplies.

• Confirm transportation and bus stop information.

• Complete required school paperwork.

• Check breakfast and lunch arrangements.

• Label backpacks, lunchboxes, and water bottles.

• Make sure students know their after-school transportation plan.

Lahontan Elementary School

• Full-size backpack, no wheels

• Plastic pencil box

• Wired headphones, no earbuds

• One box of 24-count Crayola crayons

• Two packages of large Elmer’s glue sticks

• Two boxes of tissues

• 12 Expo markers, fine or chisel tip

• Two canisters of disinfectant wipes

• Water bottle

• Tennis shoes on PE days

• Chromebooks are provided and stay at school.

E.C. Best Elementary School

• All supplies should fit inside a pencil pouch or plastic pencil box.

• Wired earbuds or headphones

• Scissors

• Crayola crayons

• Glue sticks

• No. 2 pencils

• Whiteboard eraser or clean old sock

• Expo marker

• Highlighter

• Pink eraser

• Water bottle

• No sharing of supplies.

• Tennis shoes on PE days

• Chromebooks stay at school.

Numa Elementary School

Numa provides all other classroom materials. Families are asked to send:

• Wired headphones

• Pencils

• Tissues

• Disinfectant wipes

• Hand sanitizer

• Technology screen wipes

• Tennis shoes on PE days

• Chromebooks are provided and stay at school.

Churchill County Middle School

• Wired headphones

• Regular and colored pencils

• Glue sticks

• 10-by-8-inch composition notebook, no spiral

• Notebooks and folders

• Scissors

• Chromebooks are provided in classrooms and stay at school.

• Teachers will provide additional supply needs based on class schedules.

Churchill County High School

• Wired earbuds or headphones

• Pens, pencils, and highlighters

• College-ruled notebooks or loose-leaf paper

• Students will be issued a district Chromebook.

• Teachers will communicate additional supply needs by class.

Additional no-school/professional development days: Sept. 18; Oct. 2 and 16; Nov. 13; Dec. 11; Jan. 4, 15 and 29; Feb. 12 and 26; March 12 and 26; April 16 and 30; and May 14.

RIDING THE BUS?

Families planning to use Churchill County School District transportation during the 2026-27 school year must complete the annual Transportation Application. Students in grades K-8 who live within Fallon city limits and more than one-half mile from school may use designated centralized bus stops. Bus stop locations are reviewed annually and may change.

SCHOOL MEALS

Churchill County School District will participate in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program during the 2026-27 school year. Families may apply online for free and reduced-price meal benefits through LINQ Connect. Eligibility from the previous school year carries over for the first 30 operating days. Only one application is required per household.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
