Obituary - Edna L. Dianda

Obituary - Edna L. Dianda

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, noni, great-noni, sister, aunt and friend, Edna L. Dianda, who passed away July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Edna was born Feb. 17, 1941, in Fallon, Nevada. She graduated from Churchill County High School and Northwest Nazarene University.

Edna was married to Anthony (Tony) Dianda for 33 years.

Edna loved to travel. She traveled throughout the United States, as well as to Greece and Alaska, to name just a few of her favorite destinations.

Her favorite pastime was planning family gatherings and spending time with friends and family. Edna was involved in many community projects.

Throughout her life, she was known for her kindness, generosity, unwavering love for her family and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She found joy in the simple things, especially spending time with those she loved, caring for her home and always putting others before herself.

To those who knew her best, she was the heart of the family. She had a warm smile, a giving spirit and a hug that could make any day better. Even on her final morning, she spent her time caring for others, sharing hugs, saying "I love you," working on her flowers and walking the family dog, Lady.

That selfless love is how she will always be remembered.

She leaves behind a family who adored and loved her and will forever cherish the memories, laughter, wisdom and unconditional love she shared throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the family she loved so deeply.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that love like hers never truly leaves us. We will carry her strength, compassion and gentle spirit with us every day.

She is survived by her brother, Ray Carter; sister, Patricia (Floyd) Strickland; son, Paul Choinski; grandchildren, Winter Choinski, Amanda (John) Rippee, Michelle Choinski, Ryan Choinski, Thomas Choinski and Gabriel Choinski; nephew, Jordan Strickland; niece, Elisa (Steven) Homestead; and many more nephews, nieces and cousins, all of whom she loved.

Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony (Tony) Dianda; her mother, Esther Carter; and her brothers, Clinton Price and Merwin Carter.

In lieu of a funeral, Edna asked that her family have a picnic in the park in October. The exact date will be announced at a later time. All who would like to attend are welcome.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, support and kindness during this incredibly difficult time.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.

Comment author: Patti Cole Comment text: Marie will be forever treasured in memories. The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
