Riders from across the region gathered June 12-14 at 50 Horse Ranch in Fallon as the Reining and Ranch Horse Association (RRHA) and Nevada Quarter Horse Association (NQHA) opened their 2026 show season with a weekend of clinics and competition.
Robin Moxley, president of RRHA, and Laurel Wachtel, NQHA vice president, youth adviser, and AQHA judge, oversaw the weekend's show held at the 50 Horse Ranch in Fallon.
The weekend began Friday with a reining and cow horse clinic presented by Dave Thacker of Thacker Training. Thacker spent the day coaching, critiquing, and offering advice to help riders improve and gain confidence in the show pen. He broke down each maneuver in reining and worked with a single cow in the arena to help riders better understand the fundamentals of cow horse competition.
Competition began Saturday with Wachtel judging Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail, Ranch Rail, youth, and youth lead-line classes. More than 50 entries competed throughout the day.
The show concluded Sunday with AQHA and RRHA reining classes for competitors of all skill levels.
