The Churchill County High School swim team qualified five individuals and three relay teams for the state meet, and the boys team finished second at last week’s 3A Northern Region Meet at Moana Springs Community Aquatic Center in Reno.
The Greenwave boys scored 221 team points to place second behind Truckee, which scored 341 points.
The boys 400-yard freestyle relay team won the regional championship with a first-place finish in a time of 3:54.67.
Fallon had three second-place finishes. Kage Oyler was second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.21; William McLean came in second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:08.91, and the boys 200-yard freestyle relay team was second with a time of 1:45.60.
Michael Liston placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.88, and the boys 200-yard medley relay team also placed third with a time of 1:57.48.
Brody Reynolds was the other individual state qualifier for the boys team, placing fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.98.
Barry Mitchell finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:03.94 and seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.45. Kasen Bullock placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:18.49 and seventh in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:44.90.
For the girls, Miranda Reeder qualified for state in the 50-yard freestyle with a fourth-place finish in 28.38, and Lauryn Smith finished seventh in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 3:06.83.
As a team, the girls tied for eighth with Wooster with 27 points.
The 3A State Meet begins at 8:30 a.m., May 16, at the Pavilion Center Pool in Las Vegas.
