A Candidates Night for Fallon City Council candidates is May 12 at the Fallon Convention Center.
Candidates Night begins at 6 p.m. and will consist of only candidates from Wards 1 and 3. City council is the only local position that is having a primary election in Fallon. The top two candidates advance to the general election in November unless one candidate pulls in 50% or more of the vote. Statewide offices, though, are having a primary.
Candidates Night gives voters an opportunity to hear city council candidates discuss their views on city government and their thoughts and focus for the next four years and beyond.
Current Councilwoman Kelly Frost is termed out. Seeking her council position are Daniel Doty, Lori Norcutt and Ryan Swirzcek.
A set of questions will be asked of each candidate. If audience members have a question, they are asked to write it down, and a panelist will ask the question.
According to Churchill County commissioners, new candidates for sheriff may be included on the General Election ballot if declarations of candidacy are filed between 8 a.m. on June 15 and before 5 p.m. on July 24.
The commissioners swore in undersheriff Lee Orozco who has been with Churchill County for 30 years. He served as the undersheriff to Hickox since 2022.
New candidates for Churchill County Sheriff may be included on the General Election ballot if declarations of candidacy are filed between 8 a.m. on June 15, 2026, and before 5 p.m. on July 24, 2026.

The event is also airing over KVLV-AM Radio (980), KKTU (99.5 FM) and streaming over the internet on Network1Sports. Because of the time restraints due to the broadcasting of the candidates’ event, members from The Fallon Post and the Lahontan Valley News will ask questions of all candidates pertaining to their specific offices.
