At their meeting on December 17, the Churchill County Commissioners recognized 11 county employees, including a K9 employee, for their combined 115 years of service to this community.

The following employees were honored for their tenure of service to the county:

Five years of service:

  • Tara Adams, Clerk-Treasurer’s Office
  • Katelin Byington, District Court
  • Loreli Le Baron, Public Works, Planning & Building
  • Jacob Sommer, Public Defender’s Office
  • Faviola Gouveia, Justice Court
  • K9 “Penny,” Juvenile Probation

10 years of service:

  • Heather Gomes, Assessor’s Office

15 years of service:

  • Cecilia Sanchez, District Attorney’s Office
  • Marcie Compau, Sheriff’s Office

20 years of service:

  • Lacie McAfee, Recorder’s Office

25 years of service:

  • Preston Denney, Public Works Planning & Building

Each quarter, the Commissioners present plaques and lapel pins to county employees to recognize them for every five years of service to our local community. This month, Penny received a soft squeaky toy instead of a lapel pin. A trained service dog, Penny is a positive influence in calming kids when they come into the Juvenile Probation Office.

The next employee recognition event will be at the second Commissioners’ meeting in January 2026.
