CCHS
Churchill County High School is embracing the season with festive flair as students bring holiday cheer to every corner of campus. From colorful displays to creative classroom themes, the Greenwave spirit is on full display. One standout is Alex McBride’s absolutely brilliant decoration. He used only book covers to craft a magnificent, giant candy cane right in front of the library. It's a sweet, creative, and perfectly on-theme piece of bookworm holiday art. Visit the CCHS Facebook page to check out more of the amazing work transforming the halls of CCHS into a winter wonderland. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Angela Stritenberger’s 7th-grade Advisory students put their teamwork to the test during club time with a fun and tricky challenge. Each group tried to stack as many cups as possible on one person, with the only rule being that the person could not touch the floor. The activity had students think creatively, work together, and balance carefully as they aimed for the highest cup stack. Laughter and friendly competition filled the room, making it a memorable club experience.

Numa
For the past two years, Marissa Rau has been a familiar and valued presence at Numa Elementary, completing her WNC work study with Barb Hickox’s 5th-grade class. She also supported students last year as a duty aide. School Counselor Noreen Swenson praised Marissa’s contributions, saying, “Marissa has been an excellent support to our students and staff. We are sad to see her go as she graduates with her associate’s degree and completes her work study.” In recognition of her dedication, Marissa received the Numa Golden Award and the QUACKTASTIC AWARD trophy, honoring her outstanding work with students. “We are so proud of Marissa and can’t wait to see her continue pursuing her teaching degree. We hope to welcome her back to Numa as a teacher someday,” Swenson said.

E.C. Best
Students in Julieann Lambson’s class practiced writing informational “how-to” texts last week by explaining how to decorate a Christmas tree. They focused on using paragraph components and adding details to make their writing clear and engaging. Lambson then used their instructions to show why details matter, demonstrating that without them, things might not turn out quite as expected.

Lahontan
Friday marked the 67th day of school, and Olivia Lefort and Faith Dellera’s classes celebrated by making “6 7” crowns. The phrase “6‑7” has become a nationwide viral trend popular with students in 2025. It began as a catchy phrase and spread widely on platforms like TikTok and Instagram before becoming part of youth culture. The term doesn’t have a fixed meaning but is often used playfully by young people. Teachers have now embraced the fun after students wouldn’t stop saying it, turning the quirky number into a creative, hands-on activity. By making crowns, students marked the 67th day of school in a memorable way.
