The Work-Based Learning program at Churchill County High School hosted a highly successful Career Fair on Friday, November 7. The event attracted participation from more than 750 students, all eager to explore potential career and educational pathways.
The Career Fair featured an impressive lineup of booths representing a wide range of opportunities — including apprenticeships, colleges, beauty schools, and military and industry recruiters. Among the participating institutions were Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), Western Nevada College (WNC), Montana Tech, Western Montana, the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), Idaho State University, Lewis and Clark College, the Operating Engineers, Nevada Builders, Sierra Nevada Job Corps, UNLV, Great Basin College (GBC), and numerous local and regional employers, including representatives from Nevada’s gold mining industry.
Feedback from vendors was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting that students were engaged, professional, and asked thoughtful, in-depth questions about career paths and training opportunities. Many vendors also pointed out that student interest and preparedness have grown over recent years.
Students, in turn, shared enthusiastic reviews of the event, calling it “the best Career Fair yet,” and appreciating the wide variety of new colleges and industry partners represented this year.
Churchill County High School expressed gratitude to all participants, staff, and students who contributed to the fair’s success, noting that events like this help students make informed choices about their futures and strengthen partnerships between education and industry in Churchill County.
