CCHS receives big grants -- has big plans
With information courtesy of ChurchillCSD —  Churchill County High School is looking to amazing things in the 2019-2020 school year. We recently were awarded two competitive grants (one state CTE and one Federal Perkins grant) along with our grants that are allocated out to us by the state and federal government. We have been able, through our grants awarded to update numerous pieces of equipment in the Automotive Technology department, update welders in the Ag Mechanics shop, grow learning and catering opportunities in the Culinary Arts program, grow the capacity of our programs teaching graphic design, photography, and video production, open a new Cybersecurity program, and support all of our other programs such as ag science, health careers, construction and furniture/cabinetry, drafting & design, and diesel technology. In addition, we are able to move forward with building stronger Career Pathways for all students and ensure we have the tools and resources to develop quality programs and opportunities.  We will work to build Work-Based Learning opportunities for students and will be expanding our Career Exploration to more students in the middle school.  Look for a great life-ready fair in mid-winter held in conjunction with CEDA to engage 8th graders as well as all high school students in potential careers, site tours, and great speakers and learning. The district has been awarded just over $90,000 for culinary arts and cybersecurity through the State CTE Competitive grant and almost $80,000 for the automotive and ag mechanics program as well as building career pathways.  Great things are taking place in Career Pathways courses at Churchill County High School and Churchill County Middle School.         Sign up to receive updates and the Friday File email notices. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
