Hospital Foundation Working for the Community

Hospital Foundation Working for the Community

By Leanna Lehman

Ashley McMillan with the Churchill Community Hospital Foundation presented to the Chamber of Commerce last week sharing with members about the Foundation and how it serves the local community.

Established in 2017, The Hospital Foundation supports the health care and wellness needs of the community and surrounding regions. Through their efforts and fundraising, they have been instrumental in several projects such as helping Banner Churchill Community Hospital upgrade their ambulances to include state-of-the-art technology and help bring CareFlight services to Fallon

According to McMillan, a new fundraising effort is gaining momentum in the form of the Memorial Pathway at Banner Hospital. Donors purchase personalized bricks that will be included in the Pathway. This contribution is not only unique but creates a legacy that will stand the test of time. New Baby bricks, dedication bricks, and celebration of life bricks are only a few that will lay the path.

The proceeds from the Pathway and other fundraising efforts help the hospital maintain “high-quality culture, superior patient care, and a positive environment for patients, staff, and the community.” For the foundation, this translates into things like new and upgraded equipment, the mammogram bus that offers screenings for local residents, bullet-proof vests for ambulance EMT’s, and helping Fallon become recognized as a Heart-Safe Community. Funds raised also help patients in need in the hospital, fill gaps within existing programs, and provide the community and clinical staff educational programs. All support and donations stay in the community.

The Foundation also works to make sure that affordable health care is available in Fallon, even as the community grows. “We are making sure the community has a voice,” stated McMillan.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
