Movies & More -“The Land Before Time," and ”The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" on Deck for the Weekend

We kick off our weekend at The Fallon Theatre with “The Land Before Time” at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. This 1988 animated film tells of the daring adventures of an orphaned brontosaurus named Littlefoot, who is searching for the legendary Great Valley, a land of lush vegetation where the dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace. Along the way, he meets four other young dinosaurs, each of whom is a different species. They encounter several obstacles and the evil predator Sharptooth as they learn to work together to survive. This movie is rated G; the runtime is 1 hour and 9 minutes.

Our second film continues Peter Jackson’s Hobbit Trilogy with “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” showing Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. After successfully crossing over and under the Misty Mountains, Thorin and Company must seek aid from a powerful stranger before taking on the dangers of Mirkwood Forest without their Wizard. The party must complete the journey to Lonely Mountain, and the burglar Baggins must seek out the Secret Door, which will give them access to the hoard of the dragon Smaug. The film is rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action, violence, and frightening images. The runtime is 2 hours and 41 minutes.

The Hobbit Trilogy continues next weekend, June 21 and 22, with “The Battle of the Five Armies” at 7 p.m. and “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” at 6 p.m.

We’re hosting a special event on June 12th at 6 p.m., a Super Smash Bros Ultimate Video Game Tournament. The cost is $3 to compete, free to watch, with a $20 prize pool bonus. The coordinators ask participants to bring their own controller and a Switch, monitor, or TV if possible. Questions can be directed to Ben Jamieson at [email protected].

Looking even further into the calendar, on Wednesday, June 26, The De Golyer Bucking Horse and Bull Bash are sponsoring a special event movie at 7 p.m., “The Cowboy Way,” a 1994 film starring Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland. This sponsored movie precedes their 10th annual event on June 29th, so check them out. The movie is rated PG-13 for violence, some language, and comic sensuality. The runtime is 1 hour and 42 minutes.

In July, we’ll host Acid Box, a Fallon-local band that blends hard rock, heavy metal, and punk with a blues influence. They’ll be joined by additional local talent, Anabelle and the Desert Scrubs. Check them out on July 20 at 7 p.m. The cover charge is $10.

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
