School District Supports Families with Health Care Concerns

From Churchill County School District:

We hope our students and staff are enjoying their winter break and that they are using this time to relax, unwind, and settle into a safe, restful, and well-deserved break. The holiday season is a time for togetherness and joy, but we also understand it can sometimes bring unwelcome guests, like stress and grief. Some of us may be experiencing the holidays without a loved one. Some of us may be balancing endless to-do lists from shopping to entertaining. While we each celebrate this season’s joys, it’s essential to stay mindful, acknowledge our feelings, and reach out for help.

Churchill County School District (CCSD) has partnered with Care Solace to support the well-being of our community. The service is available, at no cost, to students, staff, and their families. “We are proud to support Churchill County School District in prioritizing the well-being of its school community by providing timely access to mental health care and substance use treatment services,” said Chad Castruita, Founder and CEO of Care Solace.

If our students, staff, or their family members are looking for help with mental health or substance use, Care Solace can help them quickly find treatment options matched to their needs, regardless of the circumstance. This is a confidential care coordination service provided by CCSD. “Our students, families, and staff are experiencing significant levels of need for mental health support and assistance that we have not seen before. Partnering with Care Solace to help individuals navigate insurance needs and provider schedules is a win for our entire community,” Superintendent Derild Parsons said. “This work with Care Solace ensures that we meet our second strategic theme of developing the whole person and what that requires to bring that to fruition.”

Those interested in using Care Solace to help find themselves or a family member a mental health care provider can call 888-515-0595, where support is available 24/7/365 in over 200 languages, or visit www.caresolace.com/churchillcsd and search on your own or click “Book Appointment” for assistance by video chat, email, or phone.

We hope our students and staff enjoy the rest of their break and return on January 4, rested and reinvigorated for a fantastic new year.
Below is more information regarding Care Solace and ParentGuidence.org (another resource ChurchillCSD offers).

Care Solace is on a mission to calm the chaos of mental health care. The organization provides mental health care coordination services for school systems to ensure that students, staff, and their families quickly connect to verified community providers. They offer proprietary software to aggregate mental health care providers and substance use treatment options. Care Solace proudly serves three million students and twelve million staff and family members in over 300 school systems.

We encourage our parents and guardians to check out https://ParentGuidance.org to access on-demand virtual courses, professional support, and a safe community to learn how to support their children and get answers to mental health questions. There are courses on anxiety, depression, self-worth, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, and other mental health concerns. All classes are created by therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other certified mental health practitioners. There is a portal where parents can "Ask a Therapist" their tough questions and see questions and answers from other parents. The Cook Center for Human Connection has made these resources available to help increase hope in a time of continuing uncertainty and growing mental health concerns. Good people in our community are working to provide solutions and support for struggling people. If you or anyone you know is in a mental health emergency, reach out immediately to the suicide prevention lifeline here: 1-800-273-TALK (8255), text HOME to 741741 or dial 9-8-8 to connect with the National Suicide Hotline.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
