Movies & More: "Over the Hedge" and "The Last Unicorn" Showing This Weekend

Please note that our stand-up comedy scheduled for this Saturday evening was unfortunately canceled, but the comedy will be back after the first of the year.

So, this weekend, we have two great free movies for you. Playing Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25, at 6 p.m. is the 2006 animated comedy adventure “Over the Hedge.” When Verne and fellow woodland friends awake from winter's hibernation, they find they have some new neighbors – humans! RJ, an opportunistic raccoon, shows the others how to exploit the suburban bounty laid out before them. Voices were provided by Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, Nick Nolte, and Garry Shandling.

Our second feature each evening, at 7 p.m., is the 1982 animated family fantasy “The Last Unicorn.” In this animated musical, the villainous King Haggard plots to destroy all the world's unicorns. When a young unicorn learns that she is in danger and that she may soon be the last of her kind, she leaves the safety of her protected forest and enlists the help of Schmendrick, a gentle, albeit clumsy, sorcerer. Together, they embark on a long and dangerous journey with one goal - to defeat Haggard and save the unicorns from extinction. Voices provided by Mia Farrow, Jeff Bridges, Christopher Lee, Alan Arkin, and Angela Lansbury.

Please mark your calendars for two special events we have coming up. On Friday evening, December 1, following the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, the Lahontan Valley Concert Choir will be performing Christmas songs on our historic stage. On Thursday, December 14, at 7 p.m., we are excited to have Fallon musicians Steve and Rena, plus Annabelle, take our stage. Tickets are only $12 and are available the night of the concert at the door. Please join us on these two nights for some great music.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
