P.E.O. Chapter D is proud to announce Erin Cole as the recipient of our 2023 Jennie Gray Memorial Scholarship Award. Ms. Cole is attending WNC in pursuit of a nursing degree.
Jennie Gray was a beloved member of P.E.O., Chapter D, and the Fallon community for many years. Her wish was to have any funds donated in her memory be awarded to help local
women achieve their educational dream. Because of the generosity of Jennie’s family and many friends, this scholarship will not only help Erin but will continue to be awarded to women
attending WNC for years to come.
P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Education Organization whose goal is to help women further their education through scholarships and low-interest loans. It has hundreds of chapters in the United States and Canada.
The local Chapter was founded in 1927 with the first Chapter D officers being: Byrd Sawyer, President, Laeta Elden Best, Vice President, Ada M. Jarvis, Recording Secretary, Ethel M.
Smith, Corresponding Secretary, Helen H. Kent, Treasurer, Augusta Long, Chaplain, and Miss Laura Mills, Guard.
Current officers for 2023/24 are Becky Mathews, President, Sandy White, Vice President, Michele
Berney, Recording Secretary, Andrea Vest, Corresponding Secretary, Cyndi Kent-Dillon, Treasurer, Morena Heser, Chaplain, and Becky Schelling, Guard.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
