Local Support for the Go Red For Women
Go Red for Women and the City of Fallon at the Fountain Dye

Author: Jo Petteruti

City of Fallon officials, Banner Churchill Community Hospital and Banner Auxiliary all showed their support for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women program on Friday, February 3.
Mayor Ken Tedford, Councilwoman Kelly Frost, Police Chief Kris Alexander, and many other city officials joined the Banner Auxiliary ladies to dye the fountain on Maine Street red, recognizing the importance of the program. Red decor and Go Red For Women posters adorned Banner Hospital's interior with many of the hospital's staff wearing some form of red. A few ladies were even able to step outside in the warm sunshine to show off their red attire.
Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association's signature women's initiative, and a comprehensive platform designed to increase women's heart health awareness to prevent heart attacks and strokes. The program has grown from just wearing red and sharing heart health facts to helping women to make the commitment to take charge of their own heart health as well as that of their loved ones. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women today, causing one in three women's deaths per year. Statistics from the AHA also show that cardiovascular disease can still be prevented in 80 percent of cases through education and healthy lifestyle changes. More information about their program can be found on the website, https://www.GoRedForWomen.org/
