CAPS Looking for Volunteers for a FUNdraising Event

CAPS Looking for Volunteers for a FUNdraising Event

In spite of being the beneficiary of a generous move by the City and County to build a new facility for the CAPS organization, there are still the day-to-day expenses of taking care of the animals as well as vet bills, food, and the and the little surprises that happen on a regular basis like someone from another community abandoning four puppies.

Local volunteers are getting creative and having some fun while they work to raise money to help cover these daily expenses that fall outside the covered costs of the new building.

Marjorie Lewis is spearheading a local “Telethon” in the old Jerry Lewis style at The Grid on November 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. “Going to the Pound” is the theme of the event that will see local “celebrities” raising “bail” to help get themselves out of hock.

“Don’t let the dogs and cats down,” said Lewis, “Join us at the Grid on the 5th and help us raise funds needed to care for these precious animals.”

The group is looking for volunteers who are willing to be at the event and call their friends and families to help raise pledges toward the fundraising goals. Lewis said so far Mary Sutherland from Café de Espresso, Caryn Marshall from J&K Llamas Nursery, Kari Lister and Jenny Mitchell, local school teachers, Tim Mitchell from Fallon Ford, Mitch Young the Fire Marshal, Lane Mills from the District Attorney’s office, Kelli Kelly from the Food Hub, Lucy Carnahan from the Fallon Chamber, and Kathy Fraker from Fallon Daily Bread have all volunteered to come help out.

Join this crowd to help our local animals by calling Marjorie Lewis at 775-217-0087 today.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
