Lullaby Road: A Novel by James Anderson
Truck driver Ben Jones drives a remote section of Route 117 in Utah delivering goods to local residents, most of whom are hermits or have some reason to live a solitary existence. Ben has a checkered past himself and this work suits him.
On a wintry day things start to get squirrely. First he finds a mute abandoned child with a note pinned to his shirt telling Ben, “Bad trouble. My son. Take him today.” Then his neighbor asks him to babysit her baby daughter for the day. Then things really get weird. An accident averted…barely. His pastor friend who carries a huge cross up and down the highway hit by a car…barely alive. An encounter with his friend from the Highway Patrol. The mysteries evolve. And eventually the mysteries are solved. But it’s quite a ride on this highway of eccentric characters.
James Anderson is the author of The Never-Open Desert Diner which also plays a role in this book. You might want to read that one first.
Carol Lloyd is the Director of the Churchill County Library and usually has an opinion on what to read next.

Comment text: A little disappointed in the parade and fireworks. With it being America's 250th Birthday, there should have been some more history, as in pioneers walking behind wagons.....etc. And as for fireworks, should have been more spectacular, like seeing hearts, and smiling faces and an American flag all dine in fire works.
