Local Jiffy Lube Scholarship Deadline Approaching

The Jiffy Lube “What Drives You?” Scholarship Program Offers 3 Scholarships to Teen Drivers in the Northern Nevada area

The “What Drives You?” Scholarship program, funded by Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fallon and Minden area Jiffy Lube franchise group Griffin Fast Lube, LLC, is still accepting applications for the 2020-21 school year. Jiffy Lube has extended the scholarship deadline to Monday, April 12th to give students more time to apply, at a time when FAFSA and other scholarship deadlines have already passed and are being awarded. The deadline is fast approaching, so interested students should apply as soon as possible.

The “What Drives You?” Scholarship program is open to all high school students in the Northern Nevada area.

Jiffy Lube’s local owners understand how important it is for communities to come together during this unique time in education and have added an additional $1,500 scholarship award as an added incentive and support for students.

Students are asked to submit a 500-word essay detailing what drives them now, as an opportunity to express their inner drive and ambitions. Three finalists will be selected based on their essay submission. Each finalist will be guaranteed a $1,500 award and then will create and submit a unique 1–2-minute video that expands on their essay in their own candid words, visuals, etc. The overall $3,500 scholarship winner will be chosen from these videos.

The scholarships are open to all students currently enrolled in high school regardless of test scores or grades.

Scholarship money will go directly towards secondary education, in the form of college or other qualified technical or professional program chosen by each winning student.

For more information and to apply directly online, visit www.yourturn2apply.com. Applications are due by Monday, April 12th.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
