Bike Racing in Fallon Draws a Crowd

Find a need and fill it. Do what you love. Follow your passion and you’ll never work a day in life. All of these familiar phrases could be used to describe Stan Lattin, a Fallon native who builds bike trails in his spare time – all for the love of biking.

Last weekend Lattin held an informal bike race at his Bunejug Trail east of town where 78 people came from three states to ride the 9-mile course, hand-hewn out of the white, alkali-soaked Nevada desert. Tagged on social media as the #CarsonLakeEpic, riders could choose the Novice 9-mile loop, or they could go twice for the Expert 18 miles or three times for Pro 27 miles.

Professional racers joined local novices to enjoy the first day of spring in Fallon. A family of eight from Fallon, including grandma and grandpa, mom and dad, and four home-schooled children all raced as well. Racers came to Fallon the day before the races, getting hotel rooms and spending money on food and fuel, adding to the community revenue, and many stayed another day to explore the area.

Lattin is sponsored by PIT viper sunglasses, TruckerCo Sealants, Kali protectives, Galfer USA bike, Handup gloves, Zeppy Stardust Studios, and Shane Trotter photography, with each company donating prizes that were given out to racers throughout the weekend.

“I’ve built 12 miles of trails out here,” said Lattin, “but they’re riding the 9-mile loop for the race.” Lattin has also built trails at Rattlesnake Hill, known as “Sneaky Snake” where he has held informal races as well.

The next gathering is planned for Sunday, October 31 and will begin at 10:00 a.m. Follow Lattin on social media for more information at @mtb_stan_lee

Great race! I had a blast riding the pro course. I’m sure the next one will be just as great if not better. Thank you Stan!

Fallon has nothing to do with it. It was a one man show. I built the trails. I held the race. I marked the course. I did timing and scoring. Only my instagram followers and facebook groups knew I reach thousands of Mountain bikers thru my social media.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud.
