This week city council met on Monday, March 1. The council voted unanimously to award J-U-B Engineers Incorporated a five-year contract for miscellaneous engineering and planning services for the Fallon Municipal Airport.

Based in Reno, J-U-B Engineers Incorporated was one of five firms who applied for the contract. The selection committee consisted of Legal and Administrative Director Erquiaga, City Engineer Derek Zimney, and City Clerk Sean Richardson.

The engineering firm assists with projects like replacing runway lights and wind cones, reconstructing taxi lanes, and relocating Taxiway G. J-U-B Engineers Incorporated worked on previous Airport projects in Austin, Yerington, and Battle Mountain.

Mike Wilhem, and David Meyer, two representatives of J-U-B Engineers Incorporated, attended the Council meeting.

Councilwoman Karla Kent asked if the firm’s prices were similar to those of Atkins Construction, which have been the contract recipient in the past but did not apply this year. Erquiaga said the contract was actually a little less. He also mentioned that the contract with the engineering firm would be for general inquiry projects, like listed above, and not for capital improvements.

Councilwoman Kelly Frost moved to approve the selection of J-U-B Engineers Incorporated as the recipients of the give-year contract. Councilwoman Kent seconded the motion, and the vote carried. Mayor Tedford thanked Wilhem and Meyer for attending the council meeting.

There was no other staff or council reports and no executive session this week.

Public minutes and agendas are accessible on the City of Fallon website. For more detailed information see: https://www.fallonnevada.gov/archived-meeting-agendas/

The next meeting of the Fallon City Council is scheduled for Monday, March 15th , at 9 a.m., at City Hall, 55 W. Williams Avenue, Fallon. The Fallon City Council normally meets on the first and third Mondays of each month.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
