"Why Do We Still Have the Electoral College?" -- Viviane's reviews

"Why Do We Still Have the Electoral College?" -- Viviane's reviews

While working on another article, I read this extremely long book under the pretense that it was boring and analytical research.

However, for those who are history buffs or obsessed with political science, this book is extremely riveting and informed.

Alexander Keyssar, an American Historian from Harvard University, follows the woes and turmoil that the electoral college has brought to congress and from its birth in the Constitution to the upcoming 2020 election.

While this book does cover hundreds of years of history in a writing that will remind you of high school essays or college research, it is the first collection of the entire journey of a historical government process.

By the end of the book not only did I feel smart enough for any upcoming dinner party, I felt enlightened in a policy platform that seemed far simpler than it turned out to be.

While this book may not be for most, I would highly recommend it to any of those who are interested in the shaping of a government and the systems it runs on.
