Macy Myers, a 2016 Churchill County High School graduate, has returned to Fallon and opened a yoga studio.

At 601 South Maine Street, across the street from the library and middle school, Myers has transformed a small office suite into a serene new yoga studio for to community to grow together.

Myers has a lot of plans for her studio, and for her community.

Myers started looking for spaces to promote community health around five months ago.

“My brother told me I should just open the studio. Because if I kept not doing what I wanted, I was never going to do it,” Myers said.

While working at a dialysis center and continuing her master's program, Myers somehow found time to completer the renovation of her studio. All of her plans for the new space are inclusive to everyone as well.

“If there is clientele interested, I want classes for sports teams, birthday and bachelorette parties, all skill levels, kids, and disability accessible classes,” Myers said.

Myers came back to her hometown to give back the skills she has to a community she holds so dear to her heart.

She wants to work with as much of the community as she can.

“There is nothing else like this studio in Fallon that is inclusive and feels welcoming rather than intimidating. I want to help with the growth of Fallon by promoting it locally and not with chains,” Myers said.

While interviewing Macy, the studio was welcoming without a class in progress, and her energy made me ready to start a downward dog pose right then and there. Even when mentioning my poor experiences with yoga and gyms overall in the past, Myers enlightened me that anyone can succeed in her studio.

“Every body is a yoga body,” Myers mentioned, “I want to improve the community’s health, happiness, and self-acceptance.”

Myers brought her idea of a yoga studio to Fallon because of the community she was raised around. While leaving to West Virginia and Montana for her undergraduate degree and instructor certification, Macy learned many things. However, she knew she wanted to bring all of her education back to her hometown, which is what she suggests for everyone else as well.

“You can leave this town. But you’ll come back because of this great community. Bring the knowledge you gained back here and share it with the community,” Myers said.

Her last piece of advice for any returning local or young person looking to open their own business: just do it.

“You won’t lose anything if you do it. If you don’t do it, you won’t know if you’ve missed out on anything or not. If you do it and it doesn’t work out, you’ll learn from it. And if it does work out, then it’s even better,” Myers said.

Myers studio, Free Bird Yoga, will open on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, with an all-day open house. Myers will be there to answer questions, start sign-ups for memberships, show the studio, and meet anyone interested in starting or continuing their journey with yoga. Free Bird Yoga Studio is located at 601 South Maine Street in Suite E.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
