Telehealth Services Now Available to Nevada Seniors

Telehealth Services Now Available to Nevada Seniors

Do you or someone you know need to see a doctor? Any seniors over the age of 60 can now receive health services through telehealth services offered through the Nevada CAN statewide COVID-19 response, led by the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division.

Appointments are available now and there is no need to leave your home.

Nevada CAN offers in-home telehealth appointments to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and maintain health among elders. Telehealth is the use of phones or computers to connect with health care providers.

Services available by telehealth begin with a comprehensive geriatric assessment to identify needs, and include social work, dementia screening and care, psychiatry, and primary care. All that is needed to get started is a computer, tablet or phone equipped with a camera.

Telehealth through Nevada CAN is set up to work through existing insurance including Medicare, and will not turn anyone away if they are uninsured.

To request services, seniors can call 211 from any phone, or complete a Nevada CAN request for Assistance at: https://www.nevada211.org/seniors-request-for-assistance/

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
