County Commissioners Meet Tuesday, January 22nd

The Churchill County Commissioners will meet on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. in the Commission Chambers located at 155 N. Taylor Street. In addition to their regularly scheduled business, the Commissioners will discuss the declaration of public bids and auction of county owned property located at 2525 Beasley Drive. They will also hear a report from Jeremy Drew of Resource Concepts, Inc., who is preparing the county comments to the Navy Fallon Range Training Complex Modernization Plan Draft Environmental Impact Statement. Additionally, Marie Henson from the building department will make a presentation regarding the possibility of connecting 25 parcels in the Pine Grove Subdivision from individual wells and septic systems to the Churchill County Municipal Wastewater System.  Commissioners will consider whether or not to enter into a loan contract with the Nevada Division Environmental Protection State Revolving Fund Principal Forgiveness Loan in the amount of $1,075,000 to make this project possible. Commissioners will also discuss updating the county website, updating the job description for the Librarian, and consider entering into a consulting agreement with Nevada Strategies, LLC, a company managed by Bruce Breslow, for economic development, housing, and long-range planning services. Immediately following the meeting, Commissioners will attend department tours of the Justice Court, District Court, and Court Services, for information gathering for the budgeting process.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses. Her dad Ted was my dad's brother. I never knew Ted or Betty, but I wish I did. I am 73 and live in IL. I am building my family tree and see where Betty has fit in. Blessings to you Curt and family.
