Dahl Guest Speaker at Chamber Lunch

Dahl Guest Speaker at Chamber Lunch
Rachel Dahl, Publisher of The Fallon Post spoke yesterday at the Fallon Chamber luncheon.  She presented information to 42 chamber members about the process of creating a new online news source for the community. "This project is in honor of Anne Pershing, who several of us in the room were blessed to know and work for," she said.  "It is important for a community to have access to up-to-the minute local news and we aim to provide that." Speaking about the main goals of the organization, that was created as a non-profit, Dahl said the paper will focus on providing timely, local news, help to build the business community, and provide a place for "polite, public discourse."  She said, "we want to do all we can from a digital standpoint to drive customers to your door and to your online presence." Demonstrating the website for the audience, Dahl was able to show members specific features that she hopes will help bring the community together.  "One of our most important pages is the community calendar," she said and showedwhere anyone could click on the events tab and add an event that will then show up on the calendar. "We will add their event if they need us to, but we've built this so it is easy for someone an organization to go on the site and complete the form which automatically gets added to the community calendar." Dahl was joined at the lunch by Bob Macdonald and Steve Young of Nevada Computer Works, who have been the force behind building The Post website, and Laura Howard of Howieloo Photography who has designed many of the ads and taken several photographs for the paper. "We are all very grateful for the support we've gotten, including Sue Chambers with the Soroptimists and Lucy (The Chamber) who both reached out to their members to share the website and ask for email sign-ups," said Dahl. She also thanked the many people who have sent comments, articles, and photographs. "This is truly a community effort."

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
