Appreciation Night for Library Volunteers

Appreciation Night for Library Volunteers
by Leanna Lehman --  On February 27, Churchill County Library publicly recognized the tremendous efforts of the many volunteers who help to make the local library something more than a building for books. Thanks to director Carol Lloyd, and as she would say, the many volunteers, the library is a vibrant and thriving staple of the community, with reading programs, STEAM, the wonders of science, a computer lab, technology classes, books, and more. A live reindeer has even made an appearance. In addition to the hard-working library staff, the library board of directors, and the fundraising Library Association, volunteers have played an essential role in the library's growth and success. According to Lloyd, volunteers donated 1,587 hours of their time. “They have a huge impact," Lloyd stated, "it frees staff, and creates a lovely rippling effect that impacts the community as a whole." Library staff took turns recognizing the many volunteers and expressing their sincere thanks. The host of volunteers was comprised of young children and adults, teenagers and retirees, and even Lucy –the furry four-legged star of Reading with Rover. In appreciation, the library recognized the efforts of: Irene Blodgett and Lucy, Barbara DeLeon, Cheryl Scherschel, Mary Wright, Sari Koehler, Wyatt Jonte, Terri Pearson, Derek Lattin, Carly Diegel, Ava Juarez, Ayden Koehler, Allison Diegel, Hayden Diegel, Marilyn Mills, Antoinette Fjeldheim, Mayu Steinbaugh, Joy Chidester, Lauralyn and Scout Slyter, Caitlyn Oiler, Jean Beatty, Melinda Clifton, Alysa Holmes, McKinsey Hudgens, Isabel Linares, Sammy and Abby Northrup For more information about volunteering, visit the Churchill County Library or https://www.churchillcountylibrary.org       Support local, independent news – contribute to The Fallon Post, your non-profit (501c3) online news source for all things Fallon. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
