New Owner for Longtime Diner at Stockyard

New Owner for Longtime Diner at Stockyard
by Susan Weikel --
Davy Stix was already partners with Tommie and Nora Lee, owners of Fallon Livestock, LLC in a trailer business, so when things didn’t work out with the previous owners of the restaurant inside the stockyard of Trento Lane, Tommie and Nora approached Stix about taking over the restaurant. “And so I did. Against all common sense,” he grins slightly. On November 1, 2019, Stix, with the help of the Small Business Development Center located at Churchill Economic Development Authority, became the owner of The Auctioneer Diner. This is his first experience in ownership of a restaurant, but years ago he had a catering business, and he knows about cooking in general, as he loves cooking. Stix maintains many of the practices of prior owners. “Your potatoes will be fresh cut, no precut freezer spuds served in The Auctioneer Diner,” he says. The chicken strips and chicken fried steaks are fresh and battered with a special batter made on site. “We try, as feasibly as possible, and as efficiently as possible, to utilize local foods. I want to put a plug in for the Sanford family who supply all our hamburger and Sand Hill Dairy for our milk products. There’s very little that we buy that’s processed. Nothing frozen.” Stix tries to source as much locally as possible to produce quality food at a reasonable price which is a bit more of a challenge for a small restaurant. He explains that buying products locally and fresh, consistency, freshness, and waste can be difficult to keep in check for small businesses where customer turnout varies. The restaurant is open 7 days a week from 6 AM to 2 PM, and on sale days, Tuesday, the doors stay open until the last animal goes through the sale. If you are wanting a spot for an early dinner on a Tuesday evening, join Rosie and the crew for great homemade meal, or head out any morning or lunch hour for a great meal in a warm country atmosphere at 2055 Trento Lane.       Never miss the local news -- read more on The Fallon Post home page. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
