The Churchill County High School volleyball team dominated Wooster at the net to sweep its second match of the season last Thursday, 25-15, 25-16, 25-9.
With a balanced frontline attack, the Greenwave tallied 27 kills in the match to just six for the Colts. Senior Audrey Fruzza had nine of the kills for the Greenwave, while Kadence Wiessmer had five and both Hayden Dooley and Sutton Yost added four.
Kalaya Downs dished out 19 assists and added three kills, while Dooley also served five aces among her 14 service points.
This week the Greenwave is scheduled to host South Tahoe at 6 p.m. Thursday, then play Friday and Saturday in the High Sierra Volleyball Invitational at the Swift Sportsdome in Reno.
The Greenwave is scheduled to play Ripon, California, at 1 p.m. Friday and Nevada Union of Grass Valley, California, at 2 p.m. and would play at either 4:30 or 5:30 p.m. depending on the pool results. There are 27 teams entered in the tournament and each team is guaranteed six matches in a best-of-three format.
