CCHS
Hope Squad students have been busy kicking off the new school year, focusing on connection, peer support, and building a positive school community. Over the past several weeks, students have worked together to plan activities for the year, develop new ways to connect with their classmates, and prepare for Suicide Prevention Month throughout September. Part of that work has been finding ways to reach students where they are, especially through social media. During the first week of school, Hope Squad members created a reel sharing helpful advice and positive messages with their classmates as they started a new school year. Last week, they followed it up with another reel introducing this year’s Hope Squad members, helping students put faces to the peers who are there to listen, look out for others, and help connect them with support when needed. Through both in-person and social media outreach, Hope Squad is working to spread awareness and make sure CCHS students know they have people in their corner. They are developing an outreach plan for the school year that includes visiting classrooms, hosting events and activities for CCHS students, and creating more opportunities to connect with their peers. Their plans extend beyond the high school, with hopes of connecting with younger students at schools throughout the district and becoming more involved in the Fallon community. The goal is to strengthen connections and share Hope Squad’s message of students supporting students.

CCMS
CCMS students jumped into learning during their second week of the school year. Students put their skills to the test and showed what they know through the i-Ready Diagnostic, helping teachers identify strengths and areas for continued growth. Meanwhile, students in photo class got behind the cameras to explore different shots, angles, and perspectives while learning how photography can capture a moment and tell a story. From assessing skills to building new ones, CCMS students are already learning, creating, and making things happen.

Numa
Kristina McFadden’s fourth graders have been busy putting their science skills to work. Through hands-on activities, group discussions, and collaborative problem-solving, students explored science concepts while strengthening their teamwork skills. Along the way, they practiced sharing ideas, listening to different perspectives, and working together to solve problems. Just like real scientists, these fourth graders are learning that some of the best discoveries happen when you work together.

E.C. Best 
The Bulldog Buck Store is officially back open for business. Students can earn Bulldog Bucks by demonstrating the schoolwide Four B’s: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful. Students can then use the rewards they earn at the Bulldog Buck Store, giving them a fun way to celebrate the positive choices they make throughout the school day. With students and staff working together to put the Four B’s into action, E.C. Best continues building a positive school community where students love to learn, and teachers love to teach. 

Lahontan
During the second week of school, Lindsey Bacallo’s students continued building their early literacy skills by reviewing letters and sounds through partner games. Working together gave students a fun and interactive way to practice recognizing letters, connecting them with their sounds, and reinforcing important skills they are developing in the classroom. Partner activities also encouraged students to learn from one another while building confidence. It’s a great start as students continue building a strong foundation for reading this school year.
