As we roll into another wonderful weekend at the Fallon Theatre, we have a fantastic lineup planned for movie lovers of all ages! Step inside the cool, refreshing comfort of our historic auditorium for a movie night that pairs a delightful, creative animated adventure with a vintage classic.
At 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, bring the kids for the quirky, visually stunning animated favorite “The Boxtrolls” (2014)! Produced by the acclaimed LAIKA animation studio, this charming story introduces Eggs, a young, orphaned boy raised by a friendly community of trash-collecting cave dwellers who wear cardboard boxes on their backs. When an evil villain hatches a plot to eliminate the harmless Boxtrolls, Eggs must venture aboveground to reunite with the human world and save his unique family. Rated PG, it runs 1 hour and 36 minutes.
Or, at 7 p.m. both nights, step back into Hollywood’s golden era with the timeless classic “The Little Colonel” (1935)! Shirley Temple stars as Lloyd Sherman, the spirited young daughter of a former Confederate officer. Set in post-Civil War Kentucky, the film follows Lloyd's charming attempts to heal a deep family feud and reconcile her estranged grandfather with her parents. Featuring the iconic, unforgettable tap dance routine alongside legendary dancer Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, this heartwarming musical comedy remains a true staple of classic American cinema. Rated PG, it runs 1 hour and 21 minutes.
And coming up this Saturday, Aug. 29, get ready to lace up your running shoes for a favorite local tradition: the Cantaloupe Canter 5K! Held in conjunction with the Cantaloupe Festival & Country Fair, this fun 5K run/walk directly supports the historic Fallon Theatre. Registration is $25 early or $30 on race day. Meet us in front of the indoor pool (333 Sheckler Road), with check-in at 7 a.m. and the race starting at 8 a.m. Whether you run, walk, or cheer, come out, enjoy the festival spirit, and help keep our marquee burning bright!
Heading into fall, cruise down memory lane on Saturday, Sept. 26 for our 10th annual Show-N-Shine! We’re shutting down Maine Street starting at 9 a.m. for a morning of beautiful classic cars, good food, music, and community fun. Free for the public to attend, it's the perfect family outing. Car owners can register a vehicle for $45 ($30 per additional entry), which includes a goody bag and raffle entry. Plus, this year marks the debut of our new "Best of Show" perpetual trophy, to be proudly displayed in the Fallon Theatre lobby! Special thanks to our generous sponsors, Cheek Construction and The Nugget, for making a decade of classic cars possible.
In October, step with us into the world of bugs with Flik and friends for a fully immersive, one-weekend-only 4D movie experience with “A Bug’s Life” on Oct. 2 and 3! This family-friendly event features a fully decorated theater, themed treats, and sensory special effects, with interactive 4D screenings on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. (evening doors open at 5 p.m.). Tickets are already halfway sold out, and since these 4D events always sell out completely, reserve your seats now on our website or Facebook page! Your $5 reservation fee goes directly toward restoring our historic front facade. Prefer the traditional movie? Standard screenings (no special effects or reservations required) run Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
In November, gear up for a night of pure laughter on Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. as clean, family-friendly stand-up comedy returns to the Fallon Theatre! We are thrilled to welcome Nashville-based comedian Lee Hardin (DryBar Comedy, “The Mike Huckabee Show”) back to our stage for an evening of warm, relatable humor the whole family can enjoy. Tickets are $20, but you can snag an Early Bird Discount of $5 off until Sept. 1, or grab a Double Date Discount to get four tickets for the price of two! Grab your seats early and join us for a great night out right here in your favorite historic theater.
We love being Fallon’s spot for movies, live show entertainment, and hometown fun! Grab some fresh, buttered popcorn at concessions, sit back, and enjoy the show. Looking to celebrate a birthday, host a private screening, or put your name on our iconic marquee? Reach out to us at 775-423-6210 or [email protected] to make it happen.
