Banner Churchill Community Hospital has added a new pediatric provider, bringing longtime Northern Nevada nurse Rochelle Binnell, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, to Fallon.
Binnell is joining Banner as a nurse practitioner providing care for children, including routine wellness visits, developmental care, and treatment when children are sick.
She brings an extensive nursing background to the position, much of it in emergency and trauma care. Before joining Banner, Binnell worked for Renown Health in Reno, where she served in emergency nursing and leadership roles. In 2020, while serving as Renown’s emergency department manager, she helped oversee the hospital’s preparations for evaluating patients with respiratory illnesses during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her leadership in the emergency department was recognized years earlier when she was nominated for the 2017 Northern Nevada Nurses of Achievement Award in the Clinical Leadership category. The nomination described her work supervising Renown’s emergency department and Level II trauma center and praised her ability to lead staff during high-pressure situations.
Binnell earned her graduate nursing education through Western Governors University and is licensed in Nevada as an advanced practice registered nurse. Her federal provider record lists her specialty as primary care.
Banner officials said adding pediatric care locally gives Churchill County families another option for routine and illness-related care without having to travel to Reno or elsewhere.
Binnell is practicing at Banner Churchill Community Hospital, 801 E. Williams Ave. in Fallon.
