The campus of Veritas Preparatory School will soon be filled once again with the sounds of students, teachers, and families as the new school year officially begins Monday, Aug. 24. After a summer of preparation, the faculty and staff are excited to welcome returning students and greet the many new families joining the Veritas community this year.
The beginning of a school year is always an exciting time. Classrooms have been prepared, teachers are ready to meet their students, and new books and supplies are waiting to be put to use. More importantly, the first weeks of school provide an opportunity to renew friendships, build new relationships, establish classroom routines, and set the foundation for a year of learning and growth.
Several special events are planned during the opening weeks to help bring the Veritas community together.
On Monday, Aug. 31, at 8:15 a.m., students and faculty will gather for a Welcome Back Chapel. Chapel is an important part of life at Veritas, providing an opportunity for the school community to worship together and focus its attention on Christ. Parents are always invited and encouraged to attend chapel services throughout the school year, and the Welcome Back Chapel is a wonderful opportunity to begin the year together in prayer and worship.
Later that evening, the Unite Parent Group will hold its first meeting of the year at 6:30 p.m. Unite plays an important role in strengthening the partnership between families and the school. Throughout the year, the group supports teachers and staff, helps coordinate special events and activities, encourages school spirit, and provides opportunities for parents to become actively involved in the Veritas community. All parents interested in learning more or finding ways to serve are encouraged to attend.
Families will have another opportunity to connect with teachers during the school's Back to School Nights in September. Families of students in K5 through second grade are invited to attend Wednesday, Sept. 9, while families of students in grades three through eight will attend Thursday, Sept. 10. These evenings give parents an opportunity to visit classrooms, hear from teachers, learn about expectations for the year, and better understand what their children will be studying.
The partnership between parents and teachers is an important part of the educational philosophy at Veritas. When families and educators work together with a shared commitment to students' academic and spiritual development, children benefit from consistency, encouragement, and a strong sense of community.
As the first day approaches, Veritas faculty and staff are grateful for the opportunity to begin another year of learning together. We look forward to welcoming students back to campus, reconnecting with returning families, meeting new ones, and seeing what God has in store for the Veritas community in the year ahead.
Welcome back, Veritas!
