Churchill County School District bus drivers are getting ready to hit the road for another school year.
Monday was Bid Day for the district’s transportation team, when drivers selected their routes for the 2026-27 school year. Superintendent Blake Cooper stopped by to welcome drivers back as they prepared for the start of school.
Led by Transportation Supervisor Austin Metz, the district’s transportation team handles more than the daily trip to and from school. Drivers also transport students to field trips, activities, sporting events, and other destinations throughout the year.
For many students, their bus driver is one of the first familiar faces they see each morning and one of the last before they arrive home in the afternoon.
As the first day of school approaches, the district’s Transportation Department will introduce drivers and share route information on its Facebook page.
