Twenty-eight individuals and three teams competed in the Dust Devil Triathlon on Aug. 8, with the race starting and ending at the Churchill County Aquatic Center.
Lana Chenoweth, Churchill County recreation supervisor, hosted the event, which drew athletes from Fallon and surrounding areas. In the team event, each participant could complete the leg that best matched their sport.
The triathlon began with a 525-yard swim at the pool, followed by a 14.5-mile bicycle ride and a 5K run. The triathlon is held every August, with sign-ups beginning in June each year.
Mother and daughter Bree and Evelyn O’Neill participated as individuals. Father and daughter David and Clara Ernst also participated individually. Clara won first place in the 11-year-old age group.
