Veritas Welcomes Three New Teachers
As Veritas Preparatory School prepares for a new school year, we are excited to welcome three new teachers to our faculty: Mandy Gilbert, Nicholas Springfield, and Kayla Holtmeyer. Each brings unique experiences, talents, and a heart for serving students, along with a shared desire to help young people grow academically and spiritually.
Mandy Gilbert — Second Grade
For new second-grade teacher Mandy Gilbert, joining Veritas is also an opportunity to continue investing in the community she calls home.
Gilbert grew up in Fallon and returned to the area five years ago. Throughout the years, she has enjoyed working with children in a variety of roles, including serving in youth ministry at her church. These experiences have helped develop her passion for encouraging children as they learn and grow.
Although this will be Gilbert's first experience teaching in a classical education setting, she comes to the classroom with an important perspective gained through her experience as a parent. She understands firsthand the value of a strong partnership between parents and teachers and looks forward to developing those relationships with her Veritas families.
As she begins the school year, Gilbert is eager to encourage her second graders, support their academic and personal growth, and learn alongside them throughout the year.
Nicholas Springfield — Fourth Grade
Nicholas Springfield brings a lifelong connection to the Fallon community and a growing passion for studying, learning, and teaching to his new role at Veritas.
Springfield graduated from Churchill County High School in 2021. Following high school, Springfield attended Western Nevada College, where he earned an associate degree in general studies. He also began pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration through Western Governors University.
It was during these years that Springfield increasingly recognized another calling.
In his free time, his love for studying the Bible, reading classical literature, and writing continued to grow. Opportunities to teach junior high and high school students at his church, as well as elementary-age children during Vacation Bible School in 2024 and 2025, helped him discover how much he enjoyed sharing what he had learned with others.
When the opportunity to teach at Veritas arose this past spring, Springfield eagerly accepted.
His interests outside the classroom are just as varied. Growing up, he enjoyed basketball and football and developed a love for music, learning both guitar and keyboard. He now looks forward to bringing his enthusiasm for Scripture, classical literature, learning, and teaching into the Veritas classroom.
“I look forward to what the Lord has in store for this school,” Springfield said, “and I am grateful for the opportunity to work here!”
Kayla Holtmeyer — Fine Arts
Students age 4 through fourth grade will also welcome Kayla Holtmeyer as their new fine arts teacher.
Holtmeyer brings nearly two decades of teaching experience to Veritas. She earned degrees in human development and family science and elementary education from Oregon State University and has taught in a variety of settings, including preschool, elementary, and adult education. Her experience also includes coaching.
For Holtmeyer, joining the Veritas faculty is especially meaningful because her family is already part of the school community. Her husband, Dane, serves in the U.S. Navy, and their two sons, James and Chase, attend Veritas.
“Our family has loved becoming part of the Veritas community, and I am especially grateful for the opportunity to serve here,” Holtmeyer said.
In the fine arts classroom, Holtmeyer hopes to create an environment where students are excited to explore and create. Her goal is for curiosity to be encouraged, creativity to flourish, and students to learn to use their gifts for God's glory.
Outside of school, Holtmeyer enjoys spending time with her family and their border collie, Rhett. She also enjoys playing, good food, and listening to audiobooks.
While Gilbert, Springfield, and Holtmeyer arrive at Veritas with different backgrounds and experiences, each shares an enthusiasm for serving students and contributing to the school's mission.
The addition of these three teachers represents more than new faces in the hallways. Each brings talents, experiences, and interests that will enrich the educational opportunities available to Veritas students.
As another school year begins, we are grateful to welcome Mandy Gilbert, Nicholas Springfield, and Kayla Holtmeyer to the Veritas faculty and look forward to seeing the ways God will use each of them in the lives of our students and families.
