The Pennington Life Center invites area seniors to stay cool this August while enjoying games, exercise classes, workshops, and social activities in its air-conditioned facility.
Lunch is served weekdays at 11:30 a.m. for $6 for those younger than 60. Adults 60 and older pay what they can.
Regular weekly activities include walking groups, exercise classes, Get Fit workouts, line dancing, Zumba, bingo, crafts, games and a Family History Workshop. A new Creative Aging residency program with the Nevada Arts Council began Aug. 3 and meets Mondays and Thursdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Participants need only bring a camera or smartphone.
Monthly services include Medicare Made Easy, blood pressure and vaccine clinics, Care Chest medical supplies, Access to Healthcare, Produce on Wheels, grief and loss counseling, a Parkinson's support group and welfare assistance. Weekly trips to Reno and Carson City also are available.
