Whether residents are checking out a new novel, attending a library program, or exploring exhibits that preserve Churchill County's past, the Churchill County Library and Churchill County Museum provide services that educate, inform, and connect the community every day. While each department serves a different purpose, both play an important role in enriching the lives of Churchill County residents through learning, public service and preservation of local history.
The Churchill County Library offers free access to books, digital resources, technology, educational programming and community meeting space. In addition to maintaining its collections, the library hosts children's activities, literacy programs, outreach events and public services throughout the year, serving residents of all ages.

The Churchill County Museum preserves and shares the history of Churchill County through exhibits, historical collections, educational programs and community events. Its collections document the people, places and events that have shaped the community while providing residents and visitors with opportunities to learn about the county's heritage.
Future Priorities
As county commissioners reviewed departmental budgets earlier this year, both departments identified priorities designed to improve services and maintain county facilities.
Library Director John Hong discussed adding a part-time clerk to expand programming opportunities and outlined future improvements to the library's meeting room and a proposed outdoor programming space.
Museum Director Mel Glover said the department's primary budget requests reflected routine increases in wages, benefits and utility costs while identifying the museum's aging roof and heating and cooling system as significant long-term maintenance needs. He told commissioners those larger projects would likely be addressed through the county's capital improvement program rather than the museum's annual operating budget.
Although their responsibilities differ, the Churchill County Library and Churchill County Museum share a common commitment to serving the public. Whether introducing young readers to books, providing educational programs, preserving historical artifacts, or helping residents connect with the county's past, both departments continue to serve as valuable community resources for Churchill County.
