Fallon athletes turned in impressive performances against the nation's best as they represented Team Nevada at the 2026 National High School Finals Rodeo in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The weeklong championship featured nearly 1,800 contestants from 44 states, five Canadian provinces, Australia, Guatemala, Mexico, and New Zealand, making it the world's largest youth rodeo competition.
Jace Jepson highlighted the Fallon contingent in tie-down roping, winning two go-rounds during the national finals. Jepson posted an 8.44-second run to win the opening go-round and matched that time to capture the sixth go-round before finishing fifth in the average.
Jepson also teamed with fellow Fallon cowboy Stix Lee in team roping. The pair recorded a 6.42-second run to win a go-round and finished sixth in the average against many of the nation's top teams.
Lee also competed in tie-down roping, where he finished seventh in the world and earned National High School Rodeo Association Rookie of the Year honors. Wyatt Peek qualified in both tie-down roping and team roping. Peek partnered with Caleb Edgmon in team roping, where the pair finished 13th in the average.
Rio Segura represented Fallon in both saddle bronc riding and steer wrestling, qualifying for the national finals in two events. Beau Drake Jr. also earned a berth in the championship field in bull riding after qualifying through the Nevada High School Rodeo Association season.
The National High School Finals Rodeo was held July 19-25 at the Sandhills Global Event Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, where competitors vied for world championships across multiple rodeo disciplines.
