Churchill County School District schools will host a series of back-to-school open houses in August, giving students and families a chance to meet teachers, tour classrooms, and prepare for the start of the 2026-27 school year.
The events are intended to help students and families become familiar with their schools, learn important information for the upcoming year, and prepare for the first day of classes.
Open house schedule:
• Aug. 18: Churchill County High School, 5:30-7 p.m. (grades 9-12)
• Aug. 19: Churchill County Middle School, 5-6 p.m. (grade 6) and 6-7 p.m. (grades 7-8)
• Aug. 20: Lahontan Elementary School, 4-5:30 p.m. (first grade only)
• Aug. 21: E.C. Best Elementary School, 1-3 p.m. (second and third grades)
• Aug. 21: Numa Elementary School, 3-4 p.m. (fourth and fifth grades)
Parents of Lahontan Elementary kindergarten students will be contacted by their child's teacher during the week of Aug. 24 to schedule an individual open house date and time.
Northside Early Learning Center will host its prekindergarten open house from 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. Families who applied to the program began receiving qualification letters by mail during the week of July 20.
The first day of school for students in grades 1-12 is Monday, Aug. 24. Prekindergarten and kindergarten students at Northside Early Learning Center and Lahontan Elementary School will begin classes Monday, Aug. 31.
