Churchill County schools will begin the 2026-27 school year with two new administrators, as Shannon Coombs joins the district as director of student services and Marjorie Mauk has been named vice principal at Churchill County High School.

Coombs to Lead Student Services

As director of student services, Coombs will oversee programs that include special education, Section 504 services, intervention services, federal programs, student assessments, and other district services that support students and families.

Coombs brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including classroom teaching, literacy support, and school administration. Most recently, she served as principal of Yerington Elementary School, where she focused on student achievement, school culture, and supporting diverse learning needs.

Mauk Joins CCHS Leadership Team

Mauk joins Churchill County High School after spending the past nine years at Silverland Middle School in Fernley. During that time, she served four years as a teacher leader, supporting instructional coaching and school improvement initiatives.

She holds master's degrees in elementary education and educational leadership and is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership.

Superintendent Blake Cooper said both administrators bring leadership experience and a collaborative approach that will support students, educators, and the district as the new school year begins.
