HANDS
Originally a Social Worker for 6 years, you became an occupational therapist and a certified Hand Therapist. You created amazing customized adaptive devices for hundreds of people with wounded hands for decades. You truly had hands that healed.
You were not only a therapist, but an Artist for most of your life. From you came hundreds of Batiks, Textiles, Stained Glass, & Mosaics, many of which continue to brighten virtually every room in our house.
And your hands gave caring massages to my neck & back. No one else's hands ever showed such variation in movement, texture, pressure, and subtlety. You could put me asleep in 10". You truly had hands that calmed.
HEART
You had a compassionate, tolerant Heart, which embraced all of nature, especially visible in your work for horses, dogs, & cats. You gave thousands of dollars to local animal protection groups, volunteered with them, ferried many pets for higher levels of care. You always had a Heart open to the needs of the world.
On this first anniversary of your passing, I miss you dreadfully, & I have been loving you for these 50 years with a love that is too deep for words.
