Whether you're an experienced performer, just beginning your musical journey or simply enjoy live entertainment, Open Mic Night at Rhythm Taphouse offers an opportunity to connect with fellow community members through music and creative expression.
Hosted by local musician and music instructor Raena Blais, the weekly event welcomes musicians, comedians, poets and performers of all experience levels. Open Mic Night is held every Wednesday at Rhythm Taphouse, 1805 W. Williams Ave., with signups beginning at 6:30 p.m. and performances starting at 7 p.m.
Since launching, the event has drawn performers ranging in age from 7 to 70. Blais said the evening provides a welcoming environment where newcomers can gain confidence, seasoned musicians can network and collaborate, and audiences can enjoy an evening of live entertainment.
"It's a real sense of family down there every Wednesday night," Blais said. "We play, support each other, build friendships and have an absolute blast together."
A full drum kit is available each week, and musicians frequently join one another on stage for impromptu performances, while others perform solo with acoustic instruments. The result is an evening featuring a wide variety of musical styles and spontaneous collaborations.
Community members of all ages are invited to attend, whether they plan to perform or simply enjoy an evening of local talent.
