The community is invited to donate blood and help save lives during the eighth annual Fallon Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on Tuesday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fallon Convention Center, 100 Campus Way.
Hosted by Ladies Behind the Badge, the friendly competition pits the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office against the Fallon Police Department to see which agency can inspire the most blood donations in support of local blood supplies.
This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Sheriff Richard Hickox, whose steadfast support of the annual blood drive and lifelong commitment to serving the community continue to inspire organizers. The event’s theme, “Do it for ‘The Dash,’” references the poem “The Dash” by Linda Ellis, celebrating the impact a person makes through a life of service and generosity.
According to organizers, blood supplies remain critically low, making every donation especially important. Appointments can be scheduled by scanning the event QR code found on organizers’ Facebook pages or by calling Vitalant at 775-329-6451. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Donors are encouraged to eat, stay hydrated and bring a photo ID. While supplies last, all donors will receive a Battle of the Badges T-shirt. Donations made during Vitalant’s Give Blood Giveaway promotion are also eligible for a chance to win a car.
