The community is invited to lace up their walking shoes and support women's educational opportunities during the Walk Today for Women Tomorrow Poker Walk on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Liberty Pond in Fallon.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Participants will collect playing cards along the walking route, with prizes awarded for the best poker hands. There is no admission fee, but organizers invite participants to make a donation of their choice to P.E.O., which supports scholarships and educational opportunities for women.
Walk-up registration will be available the morning of the event, and participants may also register in advance by contacting Karla Kent at [email protected]. Liability waivers may be signed on the day of the event.
Dogs are welcome on a leash, and participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue in recognition of America's 250th anniversary if they do not have a P.E.O. shirt.
The event combines exercise, community fellowship and fundraising, with proceeds supporting P.E.O.'s mission of helping women pursue educational goals.
